Purpose of Safe Space Tutoring

Safe Space Tutoring is designed to provide a safe, transformative space for students to sharpen math skills and gain personal confidence to transcend the classroom!

All About Me

My name is Sariah Scott. I was born and raised Lawton, Ok, but moved to St. Louis, MO after marrying my husband, Lee, in 2017. We have 1 daughter, Avery, and 1 son, Carter. For more background information on me, please feel free to check out my blog by clicking on the Safe Space With Sariah Blog link above.

Academically, I earned a bachelors degree in secondary mathematics education from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. In addition to my bachelor's degree, I hold a teacher certification in advanced mathematics which certifies me to teach grades 5-12. Currently, I am in graduate school at Liberty University Online pursuing a master's degree in worship studies-leadership.

Professionally, my teaching career started in Tulsa, Ok teaching 7th grade math. After moving to St. Louis, I taught 5th and 6th grade math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. My favorite subjects to teach are the algebras!

I love teaching! I put my all into every lesson, activity, and project. I create lessons that are straight-forward, visually appealing, and allows students to explore a concept with and without me. I use activities and projects that are fun, collaborative, and reinforce what has been taught during the lesson.

I value getting to know my students and allowing them to know me. In my experience, building relationships with my students makes teaching and learning math easier. They are more willing to learn and work hard because they know I care about them and their wellbeing. I support them not just in math, but even in their extra-curricular activities.

I knew that I did not want to go back into the traditional, 5 days a week classroom setting, but I did not want to stop teaching either. So, I decided to start tutoring.

In tutoring sessions, I am the student's personal math teacher. I work to make sure the student has the necessary knowledge and resources to master whatever concept they are working on. Read some student testimonials below to see what it's like having me as a teacher.
